Heaven, hell, and purgatory
Final destiny: union with God, definitive separation, or purification.
Death fixes the soul’s orientation toward or away from God. Heaven is beatific vision; hell is the possibility of eternal rejection of God; purgatory is purification for those saved who are not yet perfectly holy.
Particular and final judgment
Each person is judged at death; Christ will judge all at the end in glory. Judgment reveals the truth of one’s life in light of love.
