A Neoclassical basilica in Rosario, Argentina's third-largest city, elevated to basilica status in 1966 and known for its devotion to the Virgin of the Rosary.
Rosario's basilica faces the Plaza 25 de Mayo in the city's historic center. Built between 1752 and 1898 in stages that moved from colonial Baroque to Neoclassical, the church has a broad white facade with twin towers and a central pediment. Inside, the nave is spacious and well-lit, with marble columns, an ornate main altar, and side chapels dedicated to various saints. The image of Our Lady of the Rosary in the sanctuary is the focus of annual processions that draw crowds from across the province. Rosario is Argentina's second port city after Buenos Aires, and the basilica has been the spiritual center of its working-class and immigrant communities since the 19th century.
