✦ How it works

Three quiet steps

The parish does not run a campaign. Members link themselves, and the parish sees the life that follows.

  1. 01

Step 1. Members link to their parish

A member links a My Catholic Guide account to one participating parish. That link is how prayer and support are tied to you.

  2. 02

Step 2. They visit churches and earn saint badges

A visit is marked with a saint badge, kept like a stamp in a pilgrim passport. Each badge is tied to a saint profile already on My Catholic Guide.

  3. 03

Step 3. The parish sees engagement

Pastors and faith formation leaders see totals: linked members, visits, saint badges, and psalm journeys. Names stay hidden unless a member opts in.

What the parish would see

This is a drawing of the parish ledger, built so you can read the layout. Every figure is example data. It is not a count from any parish, and it is not a promise of results.

What stays with the member

  • ✠Totals are shown by default.
  • ✠Names and a personal history are shown only when that member opts in.
  • ✠Prayer journal contents are never shared.
  • ✠Precise location is never shared.
  • ✠Minors take part only after a parent gives consent, and only on a roster the parish manages.
✠ The parish share

What your parish receives

  • Your parish receives 30% of the net profit from members linked to you. Payments are made on a regular schedule.
  • A public record will list what has been paid out.
  • Members who are not linked to a parish in the network still support the Church. Their share goes to a designated Catholic parish.
  • The parish pays nothing.

For the people who form the parish

This page is for faith formation directors, pastors, and parish staff. It is not an invitation aimed at youth.

A parish note in the weekly letter

One weekly letter goes to members of My Catholic Guide. A parish may add a short note for the people linked to it. The parish desk is being prepared.

Weekly letter
  • Members linked to a participating parish see that parish's approved note in their own copy of the letter.
  • If the parish has nothing approved for that week, the section is left out. There is no empty box.
  • Each note is read against published guidelines before it can appear.
  • A note that does not fit comes back to the parish with the reason and a suggested fix.
  • When the reading is uncertain, a person at My Catholic Guide decides.

✦ Questions

Questions parishes ask

Does it cost my parish anything?

+−

No. The parish pays nothing to take part. There is no fee and nothing to buy.

How is children's data handled?

+−

Children and teens take part only after a parent gives consent, and only on a roster the parish manages. By default the parish sees totals, not names. A name and a personal history appear only when that member opts in. Prayer journal contents are never shared. Precise location is never shared.

Is this formation or gamification?

+−

It is formation. A saint badge marks a church that was visited and points to the life of that saint, in the way a pilgrim passport records a stop. Badges are not points, ranks, or a contest. The aim is prayer, the saints, and the psalms between Sundays.

How do members link to our parish?

+−

A member links a My Catholic Guide account to one participating parish. Faith formation directors are the way in: you ask for the parish to take part, then households link their own accounts. We do not ask you to promote this to youth. Linking from a member account is being prepared. Write to us below and we will arrange it with you.

How are payments to parishes calculated?

+−

A parish is paid 30% of the net profit from members who have linked their accounts to that parish. Payments are made on a regular schedule. A public record will list what has been paid out. If a member is not linked to a parish in the network, that share is still given to the Church, through a designated Catholic parish. Nothing is billed to your parish. For the accounting detail behind net profit, ask in the form and we will write it out for you.
