The Eucharist and real presence
Christ is truly present—body, blood, soul, and divinity.
Catholic faith holds that after consecration, what appears as bread and wine is the whole Christ. This is not symbolism alone but a substantial change the Church calls transubstantiation.
Christ’s promise
“This is my body” and “This is my blood” are taken at face value in Catholic understanding. The Eucharist fulfills Passover and manna: God feeds his people with himself.
