A wealthy nobleman who gave up everything to found the Olivetan Benedictines and care for plague victims.
Bonaventure Tolomei (1272-1348) was a successful banker and professor who experienced a conversion after temporary blindness. He founded the Olivetan reform of the Benedictines at Monte Oliveto Maggiore. He died caring for plague victims in Siena during the Black Death.
