A Maltese priest who founded catechetical centers and dedicated his life to Christian education.
George Preca (1880-1962) was a Maltese priest who devoted his life to Christian education and evangelization. He founded the Society of Christian Doctrine (M.U.S.E.U.M.) to provide religious education to children and adults. Despite facing opposition from church authorities early in his ministry, he persevered in his educational mission. He wrote numerous spiritual works and was known for his deep prayer life and compassion for the poor. He became the first Maltese saint when canonized in 2007.
