A Holy Roman Emperor who used his power to support the Church and lived in holy marriage.
Henry II (973-1024) was Holy Roman Emperor who worked closely with the Church to reform society and strengthen Christian civilization. He founded the Diocese of Bamberg and supported monastic reform throughout his realm. Despite being emperor, he and his wife St. Cunegunda lived in perpetual virginity by mutual agreement. He balanced the demands of imperial rule with deep personal piety and devotion to the Church. His reign showed how temporal power could serve spiritual purposes. He died childless, having dedicated his rule to God.
