Third-century Bishop of Naples martyred during Diocletian persecution, famous for miraculous blood liquefaction.
Januarius served as Bishop of Naples and was martyred around 305 during Diocletian persecution. He was beheaded along with his companions for refusing to renounce Christianity. His blood, preserved in Naples Cathedral, miraculously liquefies multiple times each year. This phenomenon has continued for over 600 years.
