4th century
Feast: June 2
Fourth-century priest and martyr who died with Saint Peter during Diocletian persecution.
Marcellinus served as a priest in Rome during the persecution of Diocletian (died 304). He was arrested along with the deacon Peter while ministering to Christians. Despite torture, both men remained faithful to Christ. They were executed together and buried by a Christian woman named Lucilla. Their tomb became a place of pilgrimage.
