Markward von Hildesheim was a 9th-century German bishop who worked to spread Christianity in northern Germany. He established churches and monasteries in previously pagan territories. Known for his missionary zeal and organizational skills. He faced resistance from pagan tribes but persevered in his evangelization efforts. He died peacefully after expanding the Church significantly.
