Mother of Saint Augustine who prayed for thirty years for her sons conversion to Christianity.
Monica was the mother of Saint Augustine and lived in North Africa (331-387). For thirty years she prayed and wept for her son conversion from his wayward life. Her persistent prayers and example eventually led to Augustine conversion and baptism. She died shortly after seeing her son embrace Christianity. She is the patron of difficult marriages and wayward children.
