Stephen of Obazine was a 12th-century French abbot and founder (1084-1159). He established the monastery of Obazine and founded several other religious houses. Known for his innovative approach to monastic life, including founding communities for both men and women. He emphasized both contemplative life and practical work. He died having established a lasting monastic tradition.
