This church on the corner of Devon and Ridge in Chicago's Edgewater neighborhood has been a Carmelite parish since 1928, and its connection to St. Therese of Lisieux runs to the roots. The Discalced Carmelites built it in the Romanesque Revival style — rounded arches, sturdy brick, and a square bell tower that anchors the corner. Inside, the nave is warm and well-proportioned, with dark wood pews, a barrel-vaulted ceiling, and a marble sanctuary.
