A Persian monk who escaped five years of captivity to found a monastery in France and became a patron against fever.
Abraham (died 479) was born in Syria near the Euphrates River. While traveling to visit hermits in Egypt, he was captured and imprisoned for five years. After escaping, he went to Gaul and founded a monastery near Clermont, serving there until his death.
