Sister of St. Clare who followed Francis example of radical poverty and helped spread the Poor Clare movement across Europe.
Agnes (1197-1253) left her noble family at fourteen to join her sister Clare in following St. Francis. She faced family opposition and even physical force, but persevered to become abbess of several convents, spreading Franciscan ideals of poverty and prayer throughout Europe.
