French monk from Luxeuil Abbey who mentored Saint Romaric and co-founded Remiremont Abbey.
Amatus was a French monk (c. 560-627) from Luxeuil Abbey who became a spiritual mentor to the nobleman Romaric. Together they founded Remiremont Abbey in the Vosges Mountains. Known for his missionary work and contemplative wisdom, Amatus served as the first abbot before Romaric succeeded him.
