Casimir was a Polish prince (1458-1484) who rejected the throne of Hungary to pursue a life of prayer and celibacy. Known for his extraordinary purity, he spent his nights in prayer and practiced severe penances. His devotion to the Virgin Mary was legendary, and he died at age 25 from tuberculosis.
