Charles of Sezze (1613-1670) was an Italian Franciscan lay brother who became a renowned mystic and spiritual writer. Born to a poor family, he joined the Franciscans as a brother and spent his life in prayer, manual labor, and spiritual direction. Despite limited formal education, he wrote profound mystical treatises that influenced many. His autobiography remains a classic of spiritual literature, showing God works through the simple and humble.
