Ninth-century Byzantine bishop of Mytilene who served faithfully during iconoclastic persecution.
George served as bishop of Mytilene on the island of Lesbos during the 9th century. His episcopate coincided with the second iconoclastic period under Emperor Leo V. He defended orthodox teaching and provided pastoral leadership during persecution. He died as a confessor of the faith.
