Fifth-century founder of Lérins monastery who established influential monastic traditions in southern France.
Honoratus founded the famous monastery of Lérins around 410 (350-429). His monastery became a center of learning and sanctity, training many future bishops and saints. He later became Archbishop of Arles but died shortly after his appointment. His monastic rule influenced monasticism throughout Gaul.
