Scottish Jesuit priest martyred for his refusal to accept the Kings supremacy over the Church.
John Ogilvie was a Scottish Jesuit priest executed in Glasgow in 1615 (1579-1615). Born into a Calvinist family, he converted to Catholicism and became a Jesuit. He returned to Scotland to minister secretly to Catholics. Captured and tortured, he refused to acknowledge royal supremacy in spiritual matters. He was hanged as the only Scottish Reformation martyr.
