Lawrence of Brindisi was an Italian Capuchin friar and doctor (1559-1619). Known for his extraordinary linguistic abilities, he preached throughout Europe. He played a crucial role in organizing Christian defense against Ottoman invasions. An accomplished theologian and diplomat, he served as papal legate. He died from exhaustion while on a diplomatic mission.
