Third-century soldier martyr who refused to serve in the Roman army due to his Christian faith.
Maximilian of Lorch was a 3rd-century Christian soldier who refused military service due to his faith (274-295). When called to serve in the Roman army, he declared he could not fight as a Christian. Despite threats and pressure from his father and authorities, he maintained his conviction. He was executed for his refusal, becoming one of the earliest Christian conscientious objectors.
