Twentieth-century Russian Orthodox priest who died as a martyr during Stalinist persecution.
This Mikhail Markov was another Russian Orthodox priest martyred during the Soviet period (1880-1940). He faced the brutal persecution of religious believers under Stalin communist regime. Despite threats and imprisonment, he continued his pastoral ministry in secret. He was eventually executed for his refusal to abandon his faith and calling. Recognized as a New Martyr.
