This Paul was one of the 4th-century Desert Fathers who lived in the Egyptian wilderness. He sought God through prayer, fasting, and solitude in the harsh desert environment. Known for his spiritual wisdom and extreme asceticism. Pilgrims traveled great distances to seek his counsel. He died peacefully in his hermitage, having achieved deep union with God.
