Japanese martyr who died for his Christian faith during the persecution of Christians in Japan.
Thomas Nishi was a Japanese Christian who faced persecution during the Edo period (died 1622). When Christianity was banned in Japan, he refused to renounce his faith despite severe pressure. He was tortured and executed along with other Japanese martyrs. His witness contributed to the preservation of faith during centuries of isolation. Beatified with other Japanese martyrs.
