Valerian was a 3rd-century Christian who lived in Rome during the persecution of Christians. He was arrested for his faith and brought before Roman authorities. When ordered to sacrifice to pagan gods, he firmly refused and proclaimed Christ as his Lord. He endured torture with remarkable courage and patience. He was executed for his faith, becoming a martyr for Christ.
