A disciple who stayed at the foot of the cross and was sent as apostle to the apostles.
Scripture presents Mary Magdalene among the women who followed Jesus, present at his crucifixion and the first witness of the resurrection. Western tradition often (though not without historical debate) merged other figures with her story; in any case she models faithful discipleship and evangelizing joy.
